Nancy Oloro Robarts
Project participant in Uganda
'I am Nancy Oloro, born and raised in Teso, Uganda. Cattle rustlers and rebels invaded Teso in the mid 1980s and forced us to leave for about seven years. I moved to Zambia where I lived for ten years and only returned to Uganda this year. I taught literature in English and served as a vice principal in Banani International School in Zambia.
I first got published in 1992 by Fountain Publishers in Uganda. Later I was published by Heinemann in the UK (JAWS). I wrote and produced TV series while in Zambia, Radio BISS, as well as several stage plays. Most of them on the emancipation of women; I was raised to believe that men and women are equal in the sight of God.
Currently I am researching on biographies of ordinary people for an M.A. in Creative Writing. I am unemployed, but do part time odd jobs.'
