Veronique Tadjo

 

Mentor on the project, working with participants in South Africa

 

Véronique Tadjo is a writer and painter from Côte d'Ivoire. She did most of her studies in Abidjan and went on to earn a doctorate from the Sorbonne, Paris, in African American studies. She went to Howard University on a Fulbright scholarship.

She was a lecturer at the English department of the University of Abidjan until 1993 when she took up writing full time.

 

She has travelled extensively and is currently based in South Africa. In January 2007, she will take the post of Senior lecturer at the French department of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

Veronique was a judge for The Caine Prize for African writing in 2000 and 2001 and has also been a facilitator in its writing workshops. She has written and illustrated several books for young people.
