Kabura Zakama
Project participant in Nigeria
Kabura Zakama was born in Garkida, North Central Nigeria. A voracious reader, Kabura started writing poetry in his early teens and has contributed to national and international poetry anthologies. In 1999, he won the ANA Poetry Prize for his collection of poems, The Man Lived.
As a result of his participation on the Crossing Borders mentoring programme, Kabura has begun to write poems that address social and governance issues in Nigeria. He is currently writing a series of poems under the title Poetry in Anger published every week in the New Nigerian Weekly.
