BBC Radio 3's The Verb African Book Club Radio 3's showcase of new writing, literature and performance asked poet and performer Nii Parkes to recommend four outstanding books which would give readers new and telling perspectives on writing from the African continent. Promotes contemporary and innovative literature and creative writing from the UK to audiences around the world through the British Council's global network. In 2004 the department is working with more than 400 authors and academics in over 70 countries as part of showcases, workshops, festivals, conferences, tours, residencies and virtual projects.
